Ep. 2 In this episode you will discover the Marvelous Minds Academy method of using kindness and observation as a way to build genuine connections with the families we serve as a Childcare Center. While focusing on the long-term solutions such as establishing a sustainable business model, we also acknowledge the immediate needs of the children and their parents.
Why is it important for Daycare Staff to connect with families?
When staff share positive bonds with children's families, it helps the staff feel more connected, valued, rewarded and appreciated. Staff can more easily respond to children's needs by understanding a child's relationship with their parents, carers and siblings.
The positive outcomes of engaged parents are powerful: increased support for children's learning at home, empowered parents, and improved family well-being. Children see benefits like improved cognitive development and academic performance, better social-emotional development, and improved health.

Ep. 1 Building close childcare center relationships with the families of children who attend your childcare center is one of the biggest investments you can make in improving your childcare business.
Closer childcare relationships create better experiences for children – helping improve their overall experience, as well as their progress towards developmental milestones, building of social skills, and overall happiness.
In this episode, host Rosa Marie shares her firsthand experience of witnessing poverty and drug use during an outreach walk and its effects on the children she serves.
Tune in to hear her inspiring story and gain some insights on how to provide quality childcare in difficult circumstances.
"I don't think we really know what people need unless we have a real relationship with them." - Rosa Marie
An outreach walk can be a way to connect with people who may not otherwise seek help or know about the available services.
Daycare providers can help families access subsidies for childcare, health care, food assistance, housing assistance, or other benefits that they may be eligible for. You can also connect families with community organizations that offer counseling, mentoring, parenting education, or other forms of support like financial aid for summer camps.
Additionally, daycare providers can build trusting relationships with families by communicating regularly, respecting their cultural values and preferences, involving them in decision making, and recognizing their strengths. The best way to do this is by putting boots on the ground and sharing real-life experiences.

The Marvelous Mind of Rosa Marie
Rosa Marie has been providing exceptional child care experiences for over 18 glorious years with a laser-like focus on early childhood education. She began educating small children when she was just 10 years old, under the apprenticeship of her Grandmother who successfully operated a warm, loving, family-focused child care center for 30+ years.
Rosa knew from a very early age that she wanted to continue in her grandmother’s footsteps. She spent the next several years trying various avenues to replicate her Grandmother’s legacy. Unable to find an organization that embodied Grandma’s strength, virtue or wisdom, she created Marvelous Mind Academy.
Rosa's influence has extended to notable events and media appearances, with her involvement in organizations such as NAEYC and appearances on platforms like WXXI and Early Learning Nation. Through her active participation in these engagements, she has consistently advocated for the importance of high-quality child care and its transformative impact on the lives of children and families.
In addition to her role at Marvelous Minds Academy, Rosa holds significant board positions within the child care community. She serves on the board of the Child Care Council, where she contributes her expertise to shaping policies and initiatives that enhance the quality and accessibility of child care services. Additionally, as the President of the Community Resource Collaborative, Rosa leads collaborative efforts among organizations to address the unique challenges faced by parents, employers and child care providers, fostering a supportive and thriving child care ecosystem.
Above all, Rosa is dedicated to inspiring parents to design their own lives and be the architects of their futures. Her unwavering commitment to addressing challenges within the child care industry has positioned her as a solution-oriented leader. With a passion for empowering parents and nurturing young minds, Rosa is poised to shape the landscape of child care, leaving an indelible mark on the industry and paving the way for a brighter future for generations to come.
